Food Waste Disposal Systems; BioMaster® & WasteStar FC
Food waste management is one of the most significant environmental and operational challenges for large commercial kitchens. Food waste disposed of through drain systems creates blockage risks, drain maintenance costs, and environmental impact. MEIKO’s food waste disposal technology diverts food waste from drain systems entirely; separating it at source for diversion to biogas generation, composting, or other productive waste streams.
MEIKO BioMaster®; Pump System
The BioMaster® food waste treatment system uses a pump-based collection system to capture food waste at the point of generation in the kitchen; at prep stations, the warewashing area, and food preparation zones; and transport it through a sealed pipe network to a collection vessel. The food waste is separated from water, dewatered, and consolidated in a collection container for collection by biogas or composting contractors. BioMaster® systems are available for operations serving 100 covers per day through to operations serving more than 10,000 covers daily.
MEIKO WasteStar FC; Vacuum System
The WasteStar FC uses vacuum technology to collect food waste from workstations across the kitchen; pulling food scraps and rinse water through vacuum pipes to a central separator where solid food waste is separated from liquid. The fully automated vacuum collection eliminates manual carrying of food waste containers through the kitchen; improving hygiene, reducing manual handling risk, and ensuring that food waste collection happens at every station without staff action.
MEIKO Chemical Products; MEIKO ACTIVE
MEIKO ACTIVE is MEIKO’s range of purpose-formulated warewashing and cleaning chemicals; detergents, rinse aids, and cleaning agents developed specifically for use in MEIKO machines and tested for optimum performance within MEIKO’s wash and rinse systems. Using correctly matched chemistry is one of the most commonly overlooked factors in warewashing quality and hygiene performance.
- MEIKO ACTIVE Detergents: formulated for MEIKO wash temperatures and water management systems; effective grease and protein removal at the cycle durations MEIKO machines use
- MEIKO ACTIVE Rinse Aids: optimised for MEIKO’s final rinse system to produce spot-free, rapid-drying results
- MEIKO ACTIVE Machine Cleaner: daily and periodic descaling and cleaning agents for MEIKO machine interiors; maintaining wash performance and extending machine life
- MEIKO ACTIVE Ancillary Cleaning Supplies: kitchen cleaning chemicals for surfaces, equipment, and food contact areas beyond the dishwashing machine
MEIKO Technology Deep-Dive; The Engineering Advances That Define Performance
ComfortAir™ Heat Recovery; Energy Out, Cost Down
A conventional commercial dishwasher releases warm, humid exhaust air into the kitchen environment. This exhaust air contains significant thermal energy; energy that was paid for in the electricity or gas used to heat the wash water, and that is simply lost as the exhaust vents into the kitchen. In a kitchen running a high-volume dishwasher for twelve hours a day, this represents a substantial and ongoing energy loss.
MEIKO’s ComfortAir heat recovery system intercepts this exhaust air and uses it to pre-heat the incoming cold water supply before it enters the machine’s boiler. The thermal energy that would otherwise be lost to the kitchen environment is captured and recycled within the machine; reducing the energy required to bring cold water to wash temperature with every cycle. The cumulative energy saving across a full day’s dishwashing operation is significant, and the reduction in warm humid air entering the kitchen environment simultaneously improves kitchen comfort for staff working near the dishwashing area.
Automatic Hood Systems; Protecting Staff, Protecting Productivity
On M-iClean H hood-type machines, the hood closes automatically; triggered by rack entry detection, by a light touch on the hood, or by a button press on the control panel. On non-automated hood-type machines, kitchen staff must manually lift and lower a heavy insulated hood between every wash cycle; a physically repetitive action that, performed hundreds of times per shift, creates meaningful cumulative physical strain on the dishwashing station operator.
The automatic hood system eliminates this strain entirely. The operator slides in the rack; the machine handles the rest. Beyond ergonomic benefits, automatic hood closure also ensures consistent cycle timing; eliminating the variation that manual hood operation introduces when operators are working at varying speeds through a busy service.
M-iQ Intelligent Conveyor Control
The M-iQ series incorporates intelligent control of conveyor speed, wash zone timing, and air management based on real-time wash conditions. The machine’s control system monitors water temperature, item loading density, and wash zone performance; adjusting operating parameters to maintain wash and hygiene standards while optimising energy and water consumption per rack or item processed. This closed-loop control is one of the reasons M-iQ machines achieve 225 racks per hour throughput while maintaining the lowest energy and water consumption figures in their throughput category.
